Through a new gameplay trailer, Focus Entertainment and Tindalos Interactive announced that real-time strategy game Aliens: Dark Descent will launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Steam on June 20. The first trailer shows players pitting human commandos against aliens and teaching them how to avoid permanent team losses and mental breakdowns. As seen in the images, players will explore large maps to complete story missions and complete additional missions. They will find new ways to get out of difficult situations and strengthen their commandos by upgrading them in terms of features, abilities and equipment.
Each commando in the team has a different class with different characteristics and weapons. For example, Sergeant Titus Connor shown in the trailer can be upgraded for a better combat experience. One upgrade increases your courage, while the other upgrade refreshes battle points faster. Additionally, players are tasked with investigating the horrific event caused by the xenomorph epidemic once a month. Players will face off against a variety of xenomorph creatures, including swimmers, alien queens, and praetorians as they try to stop hundreds of deaths. Aliens: Dark Descent gameplay challenges you to use your ability to strategize and lead in different situations. Players have to prevent mental breakdowns by managing their team’s health and sanity, which may sound familiar to you from Darkest Dungeon games.
It is emphasized that creating safe zones and leading strategically are important for survival in the game. Players will follow an immersive story while installing motion sensors to learn about enemies. Set in the Alien universe introduced by cult movies, Dark Descent features familiar locations, alien creatures and new threats. Finally, players build a base to research new technologies and upgrade their soldiers with new weapons and gear. Players who pre-order before launch will receive an exclusive set of black armor for their Colonial Marines and a feline companion to spice up Otago’s deck life.
