A Chatham-Kent resident faces an assault charge after coffee was thrown at a woman Tuesday morning, police say.

A woman reported a male passenger in her vehicle threw coffee on her and kicked her windshield after she refused to take him to an address to receive property, police said.

A Chatham-Kent man, 28, is charged with assault with a weapon. He was held pending a bail hearing, police said.

Chatham man faces assault counts

A Chatham resident faces charges after officers responded to a disturbance on Center Street Tuesday night, police say.

An argument between two men escalated when one tackled the other to the ground, then attacked a witness who tried to intervene about 8 p.m. Tuesday, Chatham-Kent police said.

A Chatham man, 27, was charged with two counts of assault and held pending a bail hearing, police said.

Man charged with theft

A Chatham-Kent resident faces charges after an officers responded to a shoplifting call at a Grand Avenue West business in Chatham.

Officers arrested a suspect on Victoria Avenue, police said.

A Chatham-Kent man, 38, is charged with theft and possessing stolen property. He was released to appear in court May 8, police said.
