– I am satisfied with the sentence in general, but will appeal parts of the sentence as he was acquitted of, among other things, taking a bribe, says Tomas Forsberg, at the National Anti-Corruption Unit.
Patient previously convicted of drug offences
In the past, one of the doctor’s patients, a 69-year-old man who received large amounts of narcotic preparations prescribed by the doctor, has also been sentenced to prison for three years and two months for serious drug offences. This after he resold the highly addictive opiate Oxycontin.
The Inspectorate for Care and Care, Ivo, demanded in October last year that the man’s right to prescribe narcotics be tested after going through 19 patients’ medical records. The Health and Medical Services Board’s responsibility board HSAN, will now try it. Ivo has previously said that the doctor may lose his medical license in the event of a conviction.
The doctor is acquitted of taking bribes and illegal positions with fake money, a serious crime.
