Threatening man arrested at national team training: “We are locked up”

On Wednesday, a threatening man made his way into Friends’ arena outside Stockholm. The Swedish national team has gathered in Stockholm ahead of the two upcoming EC qualifying matches. During Wednesday, the national team trained at the national arena, and in connection with the training a man was arrested. – The person got into the Friends Arena and into the garage up to the media entrance. There it stopped. The staff sitting there reacted immediately to the man, as he was deviant in some way. Quite quickly when he was stopped, he started saying threatening, religious things, he tells the Football channel and continues: – Then the police were called and had to take him. The man has brought an object in with him that needs to be examined and looked at more closely. Suspect was carrying several bags According to police spokesperson Daniel Wikdahl, the man entered the facility and said things that could be interpreted as threats. – He also brings a number of bags. We have the person under control and until we know what is in the bags, they are considered a suspected dangerous object, says Daniel Wikdahl. “We are locked in” The national team’s upcoming press conference has been postponed and the journalists who are there are not allowed to move freely in the arena. Football Channel’s reporter Olof Lundh is on site in the arena. – This has led to us journalists being locked in the arena and the national team also remaining in place now after their training, he says. The police have announced that the suspect is in his 60s. They have started a preliminary investigation into gross illegal threats and preparation for gross public-dangerous devastation.
