Teen charged with robbery and administering noxious substance

A 15-year-old Norfolk County resident faces several charges including one of robbery with violence following a March 17 incident in Simcoe.

Norfolk OPP officers were dispatched to a Norfolk Street South address at about 12:22 pm Friday. Upon arrival, police learned the victim had gone to the home of the accused to purchase some items.

Police say the victim was sprayed with a noxious substance after arriving at the home. A suspect fled the area in a vehicle with a large but undisclosed amount of the victim’s money.

On Monday, Norfolk OPP arrested and subsequently charged a 15-year-old from Norfolk County.

In addition to robbery with violence, the accused is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, administering a noxious substance with intent to injure or cause bodily harm and failing to comply with an undertaking.

The robbery remains under investigation and provincial police anticipate further arrests.
