Episode 3 – Basquiat’s trip to Africa

In 1986, the painter Jean-Michel Basquiat finally had the opportunity to travel to Africa. His dealer is organizing an exhibition for him in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. It takes place at the French Cultural Center, and gives Basquiat the opportunity to travel the country, and to have a respite from the chaotic life of New York. This trip marks him, and calls him to come back.

With Georges Courreges (former director of the French Cultural Center in Abidjan), Kaidin (visual artist who accompanied Basquiat to Korhogo), Mimi Errol (gallery owner and art critic) and the painter Jacobleuwho runs the “Le Basquiat” art gallery in Abidjan.
