The French government and Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne both survived no-confidence votes in parliament, AP reports.
This means that the government’s proposal to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64 is considered adopted provided that it is also approved by the Constitutional Council.
The votes followed a long process in which Macron’s government tried to gather support for raising the retirement age in France.
On March 16, the Senate voted for the government’s line, but the National Assembly threatened to stop the proposal.
