A woman in her 50s and a young woman died in connection with the apartment fire in Alby. Another three people were injured in the fire, which is being investigated as an attack. According to information in several media, the women have ties to a person who has connections to a gang conflict. When the custody hearing was held in court, the suspect’s personal information was kept secret.
– The reason is that there is a danger that the suspect or someone close to him will be subjected to violence or suffer other serious problems if the information is revealed. In the end, it is the district court that decides whether the secrecy shall apply or not, said chamber prosecutor Kajsa Lindberg before the remand hearing.

– In the past, the perception was that you didn’t give up on a family, now we see concrete evidence that you do. Based on that development, I think that the police and prosecutors must take completely different measures, says Evin Cetin.
– I believe that using these tools is extremely necessary. I think the entire judicial chain needs to review the rules we have.
She believes that the need to protect relatives can in some cases outweigh the transparency that a completely public procedure provides.
– In the later process, when charges are brought, everything must be public. Then we have open main negotiations and you can take part in the preliminary investigation, even if some parts may be classified. Then review can be done, but not in the initial phase.
