A fake war to train for the real one. Faced with a deterioration in the international context, “the French armies must at this time prepare for any hypothesis of engagement”, underlines the Ministry of the Armed Forces. From 2020, the army initiated a new cycle of three-year exercises, of which ORION constitutes the first level in 2023. Objective: to train the French armies in high-intensity combat, in a joint and multinational framework and according to a “realistic and demanding”.
