[Mis à jour le 15 mars 2023 à 11h54] Fans of B series and black comedies, crazy bear is the film for you! Known as Cocaine Bear in English, the feature film directed by Elizabeth Banks was released in cinemas on Wednesday March 15, 2023. Fun, bloody and completely crazy, it’s hard to believe that the plot of the film is inspired… by a true story. In September 1985, cocaine was dumped in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest in the northern state of Georgia, USA. The pilot, believed to be ex-policeman and member of ‘The Company’ drug trafficking ring, Andrew Carter Thornton II, was found dead after the plane crashed after his parachute failed to open . Part of this cargo, 35 kilos to be exact, was found in November 1985 by an 80-kilo bear, which hastened to devour some of it.
If the pitch of crazy bear is inspired by this part of the story, the sequel is quite different. The real bear died of an overdose in only twenty minutes, and will not have devoured (almost) all the humans in its path as is the case in Elizabeth Banks’ film. A week later, the animal’s corpse and the remains of cocaine are discovered by a hunter. However, it will take three weeks for the news to reach the authorities. Nevertheless, the drug had meanwhile disappeared. Two years later, authorities accuse Thornton’s girlfriend of trying to smuggle cocaine from Colombia to Tennessee, the book details. The Bluegress Conspiracy. The charges were nevertheless dropped in 1988, for confessions obtained under duress.
Synopsis – In 1985, a large shipment of cocaine disappeared in the depths of Georgia after the crash of the plane carrying the goods. A brown bear finds her and, after consuming her, becomes addicted to drugs and terribly dangerous. Cops, drug dealers, tourists, game wardens, a mother and two teenagers unfortunately find themselves in her path…
