It has been a tumultuous year for superstar Marte Olsbu Röiseland. She had a historically good Olympics last winter and slaughtered all opposition completely, but after that a leaden period of injuries, illnesses awaited – and her comeback took a long time.

The shock news in Norway

During the winter, she has not really been recognizable, but after this year’s WC she has been in super shape, and in the first competition after the championship came the first win of the season. She has lined up good results in recent times, and therefore news from Norway today comes as a bit of a shock.

According to NRK, Röiseland has now made the decision to end her career, and she is already doing so at the age of 32. Norway thus loses one of the best biathletes of all time.

– If it is true that she quits, it is a great shame. It’s a fantastic biathlete who retires, says NRK expert Ola Lunde.
