The Justice and Development Party (PJD) criticized Morocco’s overly friendly policy with Israel. A royal call to order which is also an opportunity for the palace to reaffirm the centrality of the Palestinian question.
With our correspondent in Rabat, Nadia Ben Mahfoudh
The words of the PJD are “ dangerous and unacceptable “Severely asserts the royal cabinet, which only very rarely reacts to statements by political parties.
This call to order from the palace comes after the publication, on March 4, of a press release by the PJD, denouncing recent positions taken by the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs in which he defends Israel. Support deemed unwelcome by the PJD at a time when the Israeli occupation “ continues its aggression against the Palestinian populations in Nablus and Jerusalem “, while recalling that the Palestinian question is ” a national cause in the same way as that of Western Sahara.
To this, the firm replies that “ Morocco’s position on the Palestinian issue is irreversible and that the cause constitutes one of the priorities of the foreign policy of Mohamed VI, leader of the believers and president of the Al-Quds Committee.
A pass of arms against the backdrop ofacceleration of the rapprochement between Israel and Morocco. Since the Abraham Accords signed in December 2020, the Cherifian kingdom has never been officially so close to the Jewish state. Paradoxically, these agreements had been initialed by the hand of the PJD Prime Minister at the time, Saad Dine el-Otmani. The latter said last year to regret this signing and to have been forced by the palace.
