Who Decides on the Oscars?
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hosts the Academy Awards each year. The AMPAS includes almost 10,000 members from different professional branches of the film industry. Unlike at a film festival, the Oscars are not decided by a jury, but by several thousand people who vote on the nominations and winners of the Academy Awards in a complex election process.
Full details of the nominations can be found on the Academy Awards website.
