Two people have died in a traffic accident south of Vårgårda in Västergötland.

– It concerns a man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s. One person in each car died. In addition to that, two people are seriously injured, says Anders Wennergren, officer on duty at the police, to TT.

One of the injured is a man in his 20s.

The accident occurred at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday. The cars collided and are said to have then caught fire.

An ambulance helicopter was dispatched to the scene.

The road was closed in both directions during the rescue operation, but was reopened at 5:30 p.m.

Next of kin have been notified.

One of LKAB’s trains, loaded with around 1,000 tonnes of Swedish iron ore, has derailed on the Ofot line in Narvik in Norway.

Several of the wagons are off the tracks and someone has overturned.

– It is a fully loaded ore train on its way to Narvik. About 10–12 wagons derailed. There is approximately 100 tonnes of ore in each of these wagons so it will be a colossal cleaning job, says Harry Korslund, press spokesperson at the state-owned Norwegian railway company Bane Nor to NRK.

The accident happened at 15.20 on Sunday afternoon. It is still unclear why.

No one has been injured, but there is a stop to train traffic on Malmbanan.

Moldovan police have arrested seven people from a network “staged by Moscow”, reports TT.

Iran and the US have agreed on a prisoner exchange, reports Reuters.

The news agency refers to a statement made by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian on Iranian state television.

– With regard to the issue of prisoner exchange between Iran and the United States, we have reached an agreement in recent days and if everything goes well from the American side, I think we will see a prisoner exchange shortly, he says.

Police, rescue services and an ambulance are on the scene at highway 42 in Vårgårda municipality after an alarm about a traffic accident.
