Each year, France sends one of its films to compete for the Oscar for Best International Film. These are retained, or not, among the five nominated. For the 95th ceremony, it is Saint Omer, film by Alice Diop, who had been chosen to represent France at the 2023 Oscars. This had already won the Silver Lion at the last Venice Film Festival. On January 24, 2023, however, we learned that the film had not been selected as a finalist for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar category.
