MMORPG tries to cheat positive reviews on Steam

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

This week, the focus was primarily on WoW with its new updates 10.0.7 and 10.1. A lot of information was shared about this. But Lost Ark, Bless Global and the indie MMORPG Past Fate also made headlines. We have summarized all important news.

The highlights of the week:

The excitement of the week: In Final Fantasy XIV, a local fan fest is finally taking place again. But scalpers take advantage of this and charge $1,000 for a link.

The discussion of the week: Modern MMORPGs have a grind aspect that used to be much rarer and really annoying. This means, for example, daily and monthly tasks as well as cooldowns that prevent progress. Does that bother you too or do you even think this change is a good thing? Feel free to discuss here or directly in the article.

The week in the podcast: In their own podcast MMO News, Alexander Leitsch and Mark Sellner are again talking about the most important news about MMORPGs this week. Topics included the new information about Throne and Liberty and Amazon in general, Bless Global, the new MMORPGs Teredor, Pax Dei and Pantheon as well as the latest news about Lost Ark and WoW.

This is what happened with the small MMORPGs:

  • With Chainmonsters, a new “Pokémon MMORPG” has started. You can play it on PC or smartphone.
  • City of Heroes was a popular MMORPG among testers and players in 2004. But why did it fail? We watched the game again in retrospect.
  • Dark Age of Camelot has brought back its speed level event. If you still want to start with the old MMORPG from 2001, you can participate (via DaoC)
  • ArcheAge has released the roadmap for 2023/24. Included are a rework of the Hiram City, new equipment, an increase in the quest log to 150 quests and a new, playable fairy race (via MassivelyOP). In addition, ArcheAge’s Twitter account will be deactivated on March 17th – important news will only be shared via the official website and Discord.
  • Albion Online has released a new patch that slightly adjusted the rules of the Crystal League (via MassivelyOP).
  • CCP Games – the company behind EVE Online – has laid off 13 employees. A new game, not EVE itself, is said to be affected by this (via MMORPG.com).
  • With Uncharted Waters Origins, a new pirate MMORPG has launched on Steam. But it is torn apart in the reviews because it relies on Gacha and Pay2Win (via Steam). The trailer promised large game worlds and varied fights:
