“In addition to canceled departures, you can expect a longer time in the queue,” writes the trade union Verdi in a statement.
The strike applies to the airports in Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg and Hanover. Airport organization ADV director general Ralph Beisel emphasizes that the measure hits hard at airports struggling to recover from the covid pandemic.
Verdi demands higher wages and better conditions for working inconvenient working hours.
“Working conditions need to become more attractive in order for enough people to want the jobs,” writes the union.
When a similar one-day strike was carried out in February, an estimated 300,000 travelers were affected.
