Outwardly, the television network Fox News supported the former president Donald Trump and, among other things, furthered the conspiracy theories about the “stolen election”.
On the inside, the cohesion was not as good.
“They are pathetic”.
“What news revelations have they made in recent years?”.
In private text conversations, high-profile anchors at the channel, including Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham, lashed out at their own news management following the 2020 US presidential election.
“THEY ARE NOT SMART,” Laura Ingraham allegedly wrote in capital letters in a conversation with Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity.
Discussion about surveillance
The text messages have been made public in connection with the case in which Fox News is being sued for defamation by the vote counting machine company Dominion. This after the television company brought forward false accusations of vote fraud in the 2020 election.
Among the documents that have become public, it also appears that the chief executive of Fox News Media, Suzanne Scott, and Fox Corporation chairman Lachlan Murdoch, son of media magnate Rupert Murdoch, discussed how Donald Trump’s campaign meetings should be monitored.
“News people need to be careful how they cover this campaign meeting,” Murdoch reportedly wrote to Scott.
“So far some of the side comments have been a bit anti, and they shouldn’t be. The portrayal should be this huge celebration of the president,” he writes further.
Mocked the president
Recently, it also became known that in a text message shortly before the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021, Tucker Carlson wrote that he “intensely hates” Donald Trump. Carlson also allegedly had a conversation with an unknown person in which he wrote, among other things, that “we are very, very close to being able to ignore Trump” and “honestly, I can hardly contain myself”.
The messages also reveal that Fox profiles Carlson and Ingraham ridiculed top Trump advisers who falsely claimed that current US President Joe Biden had lost the election.
Outwardly, Tucker Carlson and Fox News during this period supported the then-President and spread the lies of the Trump campaign. Fox founder Rupert Murdoch has admitted in questioning that some presenters spread lies about the election.
