THE Paris Zoological Park, formerly called the zoo of Vincennes, is a must-see place in the capital for animal lovers. The establishment, which belongs to the National Museum of Natural History, is home to nearly 15 hectares of many exotic animals, including mammals and endangered or rare species. In all, five biozones are represented: from Patagonia to Madagascar, via Africa, Europe and Amazonia-Guyana. For the 2023 season, the park is renewing its program for visitors with several new features.
What is the Paris Zoo’s program for 2023?
From March 25 to November 5, 2023, for its new season, the Paris Zoological Park offers its visitors (re)discover all the predators that exist in animals and whose existence we often ignore (mammals, birds, fish, insects…). For young and old, this will be an opportunity to learn more about their characteristics, both their talents and their weaknesses. On the program: a visit centered on predators, original activities (treasure hunt, “Who is it?” etc.), a detailed mini-exhibition and meetings with specialists who know these animals well. Without forgetting, the return for a second edition of the “Sundays at the Zoo” around predators. These meetings are intended for all audiences, babies, children, adults and tribes.
What are the events not to miss at the Paris Zoological Park?
- Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 March 2023 : free weekend at the zoo for children under 13.
- April 8 and 9, 2023 : Easter at the Zoo through a giant egg hunt for children.
- The Nocturnes : every Thursday from June 22 to August 10, 2023. An original experience that invites visitors to discover the wild life of animals at sunset. At the end of the course, the evening continues around a drink and savory or sweet delicacies, all in a festive and friendly atmosphere.
- The Silent Zoo on August 6 and 3, 2023 : At nightfall, Equipped with individual headphones, visitors will be able to stroll through the alleys of the park to the sound of DJs, without disturbing the animals, and then take advantage of the evening to dance.
- Every Thursday in summer : a special animation will be organized (“speed painting”, improvisation show, evening games…).
- The Zoo Run on September 24, 2023 : alone, with family or friends, participants can come and run early in the morning before the opening to the public and enjoy the awakening animals.
- Chills Day on October 31, 2023 : for Halloween, the park prepares a day with many activities to make visitors shiver.
- Christmas at the Zoological Park : during the holiday season, special free activities will be organized to celebrate Christmas with the animals.
The 2023 Sundays at the Zoo program
For the 2023 season, the Paris Zoological Park is offering for the second time: “Sundays at the Zoo” on the theme of predators. Every Sunday, a specific program is offered for a particular age group. Here is the program :
► For children under 3 years old, every 1st Sunday of the month: a storyteller tells young children a story about the food chain in animals. In addition, a cultural mediator also offers children and their parents the opportunity to put themselves in the shoes of 4 predators and learn more about them through stuffed animals, pictures and other accessories.
► For children from 3 to 6 years old, every 2nd Sunday of the month: a treasure hunt allows children to meet the different predators of the zoo. Their sense of deduction is mobilized for the occasion.
► For children from 6 years oldevery 3rd Sunday of the month: guided tour around predators for the whole family through the 5 biozones of the zoo.
► Sundays at the zoo with friendsevery 4th Sunday of the month: for adults, an unusual and theatrical experience is offered with a very modern auditory stroll.
What are the family activities at the Zoo?
Many activities are offered to families wishing to discover the Paris Zoological Park, starting with guided tours. The most curious can become trainer apprentices for a few hours and help feed the animals. Finally, the zoo offers to prolong the magic by becoming an animal sponsor to contribute to the conservation of endangered species.
What animals can you see at the Paris Zoological Park?
The first element that visitors notice at the Parc Zoologique de Paris is the big rock which is the symbol of the park. It’s a journey across the continents that is offered to young and old! In total, five biozones welcome boarders from all over the world in their home ecosystem. For example, the Patagonia biozone houses in particular sea lions, penguins, manatees and pumas, while that of Madagascar sees lemurs flourish. About the European biozone, it brings together birds of prey, Iberian wolves and lynx. A vivarium has been installed under the Grand Rocher: it is one of the essential places in the park. This year is also placed under the sign of novelty with new arrivals, including that of an Atlas lion last November to complete the current clan. The Africa biozone also welcomed a new species of antelope with a group of female Mhorr gazelles and a new pair of macaco lemurs also arrived in January 2021.
