Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure

The attacks seem, as many times before, to have been primarily aimed at the Ukrainian electricity grid and other infrastructure.

The power to the occupied nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhya county has been cut off – and from the Ukrainian side there are alarms that the clock is ticking.

– There is a risk of an accident when there is no power supply, says Lisa Grenfors.

Power at the plant went out shortly before 4:00 a.m. local time, and the reactors are currently being kept running by 18 backup generators. These only have fuel for ten days, according to the Ukrainian side.

“The Russians are putting the world on the brink of a nuclear disaster,” announced Ukraine’s Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, according to a dispatch from the state-owned electricity company Ukrenergo.
