Final Fantasy XIV is a popular MMORPG and many fans would love to attend a fan festival, but few get the chance – cheaters take advantage of it.
Which festival is it about? The MMORPG Final Fantasy 14 regularly hosts fan festivals that take place every few years in North America, Europe and Japan. During the corona pandemic, the “Final Fantasy Fan Festival” event only took place once in 2021.
However, fans could not attend the event in person that year as it was only held digitally.
The last time the festival didn’t take place digitally, but with personal access for fans, was in 2019. Fans have therefore been waiting for the opportunity to attend the event on site again for 4 years. This will finally be possible again in 2023 and 2024 and the tickets are accordingly in demand.
The next fan festivals are in Las Vegas in July 2023, in London in October 2023 and in Tokyo in January 2024. There’s even a trailer for the events:

Scalpers sell links for $1,000
What are the scalpers doing? Scalpers are out for money and maximum profit, and tickets for the 2023 and 2024 Final Fantasy Fan Festival are limited. Only select FFXIV players will receive a link from Square Enix where, if interested, they can purchase a $199.99 ticket (via na.finalfantasyxiv.com).
If you do not receive a link, you cannot buy a ticket and therefore cannot participate in the event. Also, the name of the person to whom it was officially sold will be printed on the card.
However, some players, scalpers, seem to have received such a link and do not wish to participate in the festival. They sell their link, under which the cards can be purchased, to interested fans of the MMORPG at a high price.
For example, Twitter user john_is_dead shared a screenshot of Ebay showing a seller asking $950 for their link. With the link, players could get two tickets to the fan festival taking place in Las Vegas.
So if an FFXIV fan goes through this Ebay sale, they won’t get a ticket. For 950 US dollars, he only buys the opportunity to then buy a ticket for just under 200 US dollars.
With Final Fantasy XIV released on Steam in 2014, the popular franchise ventured into the world of MMORPGs and has since built up a loyal community.
In February, the game had an average of 23,446 players according to SteamCharts, and MeinMMO’s expert for MMORPGs, Alexander Leitsch, also counted Final Fantasy XIV among the 10 best MMORPGs on Steam in March 2023.
