Kingsley Coman decided the 2020 Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

When the European giants clashed in the last 16 at the Parc des Princes a few weeks ago, the PSG-raised Frenchman was once again the only one to score.

Thus, PSG needed to win the return down in Munich so that the European adventure would not end already now.

And sure, there were chances. Both Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé tried in the first half, but without success. And when home goalkeeper Yann Sommer gave PSG a golden opportunity to break the deadlock, Vitinha finished no better than Bayern defender Matthijs de Ligt could clear on the goal line.

No, it didn’t work out for PSG this time either.

In contrast, for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. The Cameroonian striker – at PSG between 2018 and 2020 – first had a goal ruled out for offside early in the second half. A few minutes later, however, he got a goal celebration – and Bayern Munich had one foot in the quarter-finals.

PSG came no closer to equalizing than a couple of nods from veteran centre-back Sergio Ramos.

Instead, substitute Serge Gnabry decisively decided the match – and the double – with his 2-0 goal in the closing minutes.

Bayern Munich will thus play in the quarter-finals in April, while PSG can focus on defending the league title at home.
