Norfolk Family Health Team is on the move in Port

The Norfolk Family Health Team in Port Rowan is moving to a new location at the end of March.

The team, now located at the Norfolk County-owned Port Rowan Medical Center at 1035 Bay St., is moving to 1009 Bay St.

“The new location will be a fabulous opportunity to leverage the chiropractic services of Dr. John Rios, as well as the Alternative Hearing Aid Clinic Ltd. offered by Dwayne Badduke,” said NFHT executive director Robin Mackie RN, BHA, in a statement. “All this, while offering the existing suite of medical services we currently bring to our registered Port Rowan patients, every Tuesday and Wednesday.”

The new home is completely accessible, has adjacent street parking, is bright with natural light, and is extremely welcoming, Mackie said.

Mackie said the team was fortunate that the new location became available.

“Unfortunately, we were unable to reach a mutually beneficial lease agreement at our current location,” she noted, explaining that the NFHT is a government-funded program entity that is unable to accept charitable donations. “It is crucial that financial matters such as lease agreements and other business decisions are prudent, to ensure the team has the best possible opportunity to provide health care within Norfolk County communities now, and for years to come.”

Mackie emphasized that the new location is “just steps away” from the current location, will retain the same schedule for patients, and will have its first appointment on April 4.

“Our patients will enjoy the benefit of easy access to chiropractic and hearing clinic services, at our new location.”

Norfolk County Mayor Amy Martin wished the family health team well as it prepares to move to its new home.

“We are pleased that they will be staying in the Port Rowan Community,” said Martin.

Councilor Tom Masschaele said the family health team has provided a great service to the residents of Port Rowan and area, adding “I’m certain they will continue to do so in their new location.”

As for the future of the county-owned structure, Norfolk staff will be submitting a report to council later in 2023 proposing options for the building.
