An experienced defender, representing Juventus at the club team level Tuija Hyyrynen admitted that Finland stumbled against a rock-hard opponent in two cases.
– In special situations, we need to improve, as well as in defending the penalty area. These are the things we decide whenever we play against top countries. And France is one of the best teams in the world.
France scored as many as three goals from the corner – all with a header.
– From the French stars, the game was sometimes quite a fireworks display. In that sense, we got to practice our defense well. This served as an excellent preparatory match for next summer’s European Championship finals when we know there are some really tough teams in the block as well.
Hyyrynen reminded that in France the series is in progress, while many Finnish players have a so-called “preseason” before the start of the series.
– Certainly the lack of a sense of play was evident on the field in some things. However, we have many players just looking for a game vibe, while the French are in the best mood right now. Lessons will be learned from this game, those things will be developed and the eyes will be turned to the next matches.
– It’s a great thing to be able to play against the best in the world and even face very different teams. Namely, it is less possible to play against Brazil, Hyyrynen reminded.
