It was reported that the cargo ship “MSC ISTANBUL” ran aground in the Suez Canal, but the canal was opened by tugboats without interrupting the sea traffic.
Osama Rabi, Chairman of the Suez Canal Administration, said in a written statement that the MSC ISTANBUL container ship, which was on its way to Portugal from Malaysia, ran aground as it passed through the canal.
Rabi stated that as soon as the information received from the main control center that the ship had run aground, 4 tugboats were activated and the ship was floated again, noting that the ship traffic in the canal was not affected by the incident.
