Volunteers board members sought for Norfolk Sports Hall of Recognition

The Norfolk County Sports Hall of Recognition is conducting a draft.

The organization is seeking board members and volunteers to join its team, promoting awareness of local athletes.

The Sports Hall aims to recognize teams and individuals who have made significant contributions to Norfolk County’s sports history.

Through a biennial induction dinner and a Parade of Champions at the Norfolk County Fair, the organization shines a light on teams and individuals who have achieved provincial and national championships or awards over the past year.

To date, more than 90 individuals have been induced into the Sports Hall.

Plaques and displays recognizing past inductees can be seen in the pool viewing area at the Simcoe Recreation Centre.

The Sports Hall board members review nominations from the community each year to select inductions.

Anyone interested in joining the Board or assisting with induction dinners and fundraising golf tournaments is welcome to indicate their interest or ask questions by sending an email to [email protected]

An annual general meeting is tentatively set for March 21, 2023, at 5 pm but interested parties are advised to visit norfolksports.ca for more details.

A book written by George Pond celebrating the Sports Hall’s 25th anniversary is available for a reduced price of $20 at Nifty Gifty in Waterford, Firefly and Fox Books in Simcoe, and the customer service desk at the Simcoe Recreation Centre.
