4,000 kilos of kebabs thrown away after salmonella alarm

Over 4,000 kilos of kebab meat must be thrown away in Norway after salmonella was discovered in the factory where the meat is handled, reports The daily newspaper.

The source of the infection is still unknown.

– The salmonella finding was made after a routine sampling of the Fresh Food business in Moss. The batch in question has not been put on the market, but stopped at the company and then sent to be destroyed, says Jorunn Aasgaard Grini, head of department for the department Østfold and Follo at the Food Safety Authority in Norway, to the newspaper.

    Thousands of people have been forced to flee after a fire broke out in one of the world’s largest refugee camps in Bangladesh, the refugee agency UNHCR said on Twitter.

    The refugee camp is located in Cox’s Bazar. Mainly Muslim Rohingya have lived there, who were forced to flee neighboring Myanmar when the military launched a brutal offensive against Rohingya in 2017.

    The camp has been hit by violent fires several times. Among other things, 2021 when 30,000 refugees were forced to leave the camp and several people died.

    Thousands of protesters have gathered outside the parliament building in Athens, Greece on Sunday.

    Unions for railway workers have been raising the alarm for years about the safety of the Greek railways, which have long been considered the deadliest in Europe.

    Inadequate security systems, inadequate signaling systems, staff shortages and substandard training are some of the problems raised by the unions.

    The protests started after the fatal train accident in the country, when a passenger train with around 350 people collided head-on with a freight train on February 28.

    At least 57 people died and around 80 more were injured. Several are still missing.

    It is still unclear why the trains were on the same track.

  • Found dog – the police were looking for the owner

    Late on Saturday evening, the police were contacted that a loose dog had been found in Skellefteå.

    The dog, which is a male and has a chip, was handed in to the station in the hope that an owner would be found.

    But on Sunday, no owner has yet come forward, and the police are now looking for the person or people who own the dog.

  • They were caught with explosives

    A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of preparing for public destruction outside the municipality of Mariestad.

    The police were alerted in the afternoon on Saturday and were then able to carry out “initial measures” which led to the arrest of the 45-year-old.

    – I cannot tell you much about what has happened. Generally speaking, preparation for public destruction is about causing danger to life or destroying someone else’s property, says Anna Hammarbäck, press spokesperson at the police.

    On Sunday, the Public Prosecutor’s Office announced that the man has been arrested on probable cause on suspicion of preparation for public destruction and violation of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods.

    – What I can say is that the man had explosives at this place where he was arrested, says Robin Simonsson, communicator at the Prosecutor’s Office.

  • Rape in central Norrköping

    At 01.30 the police were alerted to a rape that took place outdoors in central Norrköping.

    The woman who raised the alarm is in her 30s.

    Police technicians have been on site during the morning. There are no suspects and so far no arrests have been made.

    With black liquid, which would symbolize “soaking in oil”, they sprayed down the work of the artist Dani Karavan “Grundgesetz 49”. They also put up posters with the text “Oil or fundamental rights”.

    Bärbel Bas, spokesperson for the German parliament, stated that the work of art is about respecting and protecting fundamental rights such as freedom of expression, and hoped that the work did not suffer permanent damage.

  • David Lindley is dead – aged 78

    The American artist David Lindley has died, reports Rolling Stone.

    He was 78 years old.

    “This is a great loss to our culture and our society. He contributed so much as a person and a musician. Rest in peace,” writes Lindley’s manager on Facebook.

    Lindley is best known for his collaborations with artists in the 70s and 80s. Including Jackson Browne, Dolly Parton, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Toto and Rod Stewart.

  • Man stabbed – two arrested

    Shortly after 03:00, the police were alerted about a man who had been stabbed in Östermalm in central Stockholm.

    The man was taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

    A couple of hours later, the police were able to arrest two men in their 20s.

    – We must interrogate the perpetrators. It is unclear what relationship they have to the victim. I don’t have more information, says Mats Eriksson, police spokesperson.

  • Woman suspected of assault

    The police were called to an address in central Luleå due to an assault on the night of Sunday. At the scene, the police receive information that a woman allegedly hit a man and then fled the scene.

    Later, another call comes in to the police about an assault at another address in central Luleå. There, the same woman is said to have beaten a man.

    The woman was arrested by the police and is suspected of two cases of assault and illegal threats. She is also suspected of violence against an official in connection with the arrest.

    The woman will be questioned when she has sobered up, the police write on their website.
