The 5 best Netflix series that far too few people know – with 3 nerve-racking thriller insider tips

The 5 best Netflix series that far too few people

Do you know that feeling when you have seen a series and immediately want to talk to all your friends about it? I often feel like this, but there is a problem: Many of the series have not even been seen by the others because they are lost in Netflix’s huge range.

This is also clear from the ratings on Moviepilot. Compared to award-winning and popular series like Money Heist (3,929 ratings) and Elite (807 ratings), my insider tips have well under 200 ratings.

The five best of these overlooked gems of the serieswho happen to all come from Spain, I want to introduce to you today.

Netflix insider tip Your last hour: A nerve-wracking search for clues after death

The Mess You Leave Behind – S01 Trailer (English Subs) HD

Your Final Hour features a reunion with an elite favorite, namely Arón Piper (Ander). In the Spanish thriller series he slips into the role of the student Iago, whose literature teacher Viruca deceased in a disputed manner is.

When her successor Raquel takes over her position, she wants to track down death and becomes a victim of mysterious messages herself. The actual dream job becomes a nightmare and more and more details come to light.

It is particularly commendable that the series actually remains exciting until the last second – and is not at all predictable. The acting performance of Arón Piper & Co. is also really first class.

Netflix insider tip Smiley: RomCom jewel with humor and eroticism

Netflix

smiley

The Spanish rom-com Smiley has only been able to achieve 24 ratings on Moviepilot so far, albeit with a high 7.4 out of 10. In the foreground of the Netflix highlight are the two homosexual men Bruno (Miki Esparbé) and Àlex (Carlos Cuevas), who through meet a funny coincidence.

The two couldn’t be more different. But despite their differences, to their own surprise, they grow closer – and a one-night stand suddenly becomes more. But as quickly as they fall in love with each other, the first doubts arise: Can this really work out?

In addition to this question, the romantic comedy series also deals with social issues. The very diverse characters have, for example, on the themes Getting older, coming out and unfulfilled career aspirations to nibble. Smiley is therefore not only highly entertaining, but also stimulates thought – and on top of that brings with it a lot of humor and eroticism.

Netflix insider tip Somebody Must Die: Poignant thriller miniseries with depth

Someone Must Die – S01 Trailer 2 (German) HD

In Someone Must Die, viewers meet one of my absolute favorite series, namely the Spanish actress Ester Expósito. She is certainly known to most for her role as Carla in Élite. The rest of the cast is impressive too, including Smiley’s Carlos Cuevas.

The three-part Spanish-Mexican thriller mini-series is thematically engaging Homophobia in the 1950s on. After his family wanted to marry Gabino Falcón with Cayetana (Ester Expósito), she found out about his homosexuality and put him in an internment camp for gay men.

But that’s not all: Gabino’s male crush starts something with Gabino’s mother – to the horror of the entire family. Someone Must Die not only looks back into the horrible past of homosexuals, but also offers lots of family-related excitement and drama.

Netflix insider tip Welcome to Eden: the dream world of influencers becomes a thriller

Welcome To Eden – S01 Trailer (English Subs) HD

In Spain, Welcome to Eden was so successful that already the 2nd season confirmed became. In this country, however, the thriller series is hardly known. There is a very interesting plot behind the series: Five influencers are invited to the island of Eden by a beverage brand to try the new drink Blue Eden there – but not without consequences.

Because after drinking the drink, the five young and attractive influencers lose control of themselves. A rollercoaster of emotions begins, both for the characters and for the viewers. From romantic feelings, deaths and rebellions, everything is there. Except for one thing: boredom!

Netflix insider tip White Lines: between drug trafficking and death mysteries

White Lines – S01 Trailer (German subtitles) HD

White Lines is the recommendation you’ve most likely heard of on this list. Because White Lines was penned by Álex Pina, who is also the screenwriter of The Money Heist.

Although the mystery series was filmed in Mallorca, it is set in and about Ibiza mysterious death of the young DJ AxelCollins. His body suddenly turns up after several years. When his younger sister Zoe Walker (Laura Haddock) finds out that the Spanish authorities do not want to determine the cause of death due to the statute of limitations, she travels to Ibiza herself and embarks on an eventful search for clues.

There she not only regularly gets into danger, but also gets to know Axel’s former circle of friends, who are in big trouble. Especially because of drugs and huge mountains of debt.

After White Lines you’re probably asking yourself: How does so much material fit into such a short series? Exactly this one Fast pace, the unpredictable events and the permanent tension make the series tip so interesting.4
