German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is paying a quick visit to US President Joe Biden at the White House. The working meeting concerns developments in Ukraine and is being held at the same time as the US promises to send ammunition worth over four billion kroner to the Ukrainian military.
The two leaders showed up for a traditional photo together, which was seen as enough to demonstrate the unanimity of continued support for Ukraine.
No press conference was planned in connection with the meeting. To the small press gathering that met the two at the photo opportunity, Biden stated that the last time the two were together, “then Russia mobilized forces on the border of Ukraine”. That was in February 2022.
– We will continue to support Ukraine as long as it lasts and as long as it is needed, says Olaf Scholz now a year later.
