Postnord set a trap at a postal agent in Karlskrona – and it backfired. Two store employees are now being charged with aggravated theft of mobile phones, local media reports.
The suspicions arose when several customers complained that they had not received their ordered goods, which should have been picked up in the store. Postnord’s security staff then sent five mobile phones equipped with tracking transmitters to the store and were able to establish that these were not registered according to the procedures. In addition, the telephone system was shut down.
When the security personnel entered the store, the phone packaging was broken open and the phones were collected in a bag. A store employee tried to escape but was wrestled down by Postnord’s staff and held until the police arrived.
The two store employees were initially suspected of extensive theft, but the indictment only covers the five mobile phones. Both deny wrongdoing.
