Frida Karlsson has won three straight medals in the World Ski Championships.
But now she comes with a most unexpected revelation.
That she has still had her thoughts on changing sports.
There hasn’t been any WC gold yet, though Frida Karlsson has still delivered three straight medals in three races in the 2023 World Ski Championships in Planica. First silver in skiathlon, silver in 10 km free and then bronze in the relay.
Frida hunts for gold
The hopes have of course been to reach that first individual WC gold, but there is still one last chance in Saturday’s closing women’s three-mile race. Then Karlsson has a chance to take the fourth straight medal and she is one of the favorites in advance.

But alongside the medal successes, the 23-year-old has also been noticed for something completely different in the Norwegian media. After the first WC race, Norwegian newspaper VG’s cameras captured how the Swede was impressed by the riders in the Nordic combination.
– What they are driving!, says a surprised Frida in the TV camera.

Karlsson’s words
Nordic combined is not a sport that gets very much attention in Sweden and it is a rather strange sport that combines cross-country skiing with ski jumping. But Karlsson reveals that she has actually had her thoughts on changing sports and trying Nordic combination in particular.
– Well, we don’t have this in Sweden. But I have said that if I stop going against my genes, I would have ended up here (in Nordic combination), she admits to Norwegian VG.
The VG reporter: You want to go up the ski jump?
– Haha yeah!

It would still have been extremely interesting to see what Frida Karlsson had been able to accomplish in ski jumping. But we take this with a big pinch of salt and the Swede is usually quite joking in interviews with Norwegian media.
