An enormous body count and tons of fake blood. This is how the South Korean film Project Wolf Hunting advertises. He’s so brutal that the FSK initially refused release. Only at the second attempt did the mix of sci-fi, horror and action receive the No Youth Release certificate. That made the theatrical release possible.
From March 2, 2023, the exceptional butchery will be shown in selected German cinemas. In this article you will find out what Project Wolf Hunting is about, whether the film is worth watching and in which theaters it is showing.
Gangsters, cops and a super zombie clash in Project Wolf Hunting
Project Wolf Hunting is a kind of con air with super zombies. The initial idea is to transport 47 criminals in a cargo ship. The most ruthless criminals overwhelm their guards and take them out one by one. However, neither cops nor gangsters suspect that the ship is carrying a top-secret superweapon. In the belly of the ship lies a zombie soldier named Alpha (Gwi-hwa Choi), who also overwhelms his guards. Alpha is a mix of Frankenstein and the T-1000 from Terminator. As you can imagine, he leaves a trail of blood throughout the ship.
The genre mix Two hours of brutality and blood fountains
I was able to see Project Wolf Hunting at the Sitges festival last year and my short recommendation would be:
In addition, the script of Project Wolf Hunting is enriched with a conspiracy that goes back decades. That’s why he seems somewhat bloated in the last third.

Either you embark on the journey to this slaughterhouse of the seas or you jump off due to the tiring butchery of uninteresting characters. Personally, I didn’t leave the cinema bored, but I had promised myself more.
When and where will Project Wolf Hunting be shown?
You can find out whether the film is showing in your area Cinema program from Moviepilot. The evaluation is aimed at individual performances rather than broad coverage, so the chance of Project Wolf Hunting in cinemas may be gone in a few days.
My tip: It’s best to watch the sliced film with friends who like splatter interludes. At the festival in Sitges there was row after row of applause. The more the audience celebrates, the less you think about the lengths of the story.
