The 36-year-old man held a woman captive in an apartment and subjected her to extensive physical and sexual violence with sadistic elements. Now he is sentenced to eight years in prison.

The incident occurred one night in August last year in the woman’s residence in Skärholmen in Stockholm.

The man, who had known the woman for a short time, abused her with kicks, punches and objects, including a frying pan. He raped her twice. He also forced her to crawl around on her knees and walk on broken glass, among other things.

When she was about to run away on a couple of occasions, he pulled her back.

The assault and abuse went on for several hours. Finally, a neighbor raised the alarm after seeing the woman covered in blood on the balcony. A police patrol managed to enter the apartment and arrest the man.

The woman suffered severe injuries in the form of fractures, bruises and blisters all over her body.

The Södertörn district court sentences the man against his denial for kidnapping, aggravated assault, aggravated rape and assault in court proceedings. In addition to serving the prison sentence, he must pay damages of roughly SEK 540,000.

“It is clear that the plaintiff was exposed to great mental suffering and felt fear of death during the course of events,” writes the court.

The man has previously been convicted of several similar serious crimes against other women, with convictions in 2009 and 2017. He was released on parole in August 2021.
