The image that had leaked 15 days ago on the PlayStation Network servers was already a strong clue, but today it is CD Projekt Red which formalizes the arrival of the next gen ‘versions of Cyberpunk 2077. In the following its stream, the Polish studio has made these PS5 and Xbox Series X versions available through an update that will improve the performance of the game on these consoles. Like most titles, we will have the choice between a “Performance” mode (dynamic 4K / 60fps unstable) and a “Ray Tracing” mode which offers dynamic 4K and a stable frame-rate of 30 frames per second. Only the Xbox Series S will have to be content with displaying 1440p at 30fps. Of course, these versions will benefit from minimal loading times and compatibility with DualSense features, via haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. To illustrate all this, CD Projekt Red has also published a 30-minute gameplay video for each medium, PS5 and Xbox Series, so that we can measure the efforts that have been made. It will also be possible to change his appearance along the way now, by accessing his apartment directly.
However, many people came out disappointed with this presentation since they were expecting, in addition to the best technical performance, an open world that was livelier and richer in NPCs, which was clearly not the case. Others pointed to a laborious presentation, which lacked pep, especially after the backlash that the game suffered when it was released in December 2020. Besides, just to not alienate the players once again , the Polish studio has set up a free trial of the game on PS5 and Xbox Series for a period of 5 hours, while the update will be free from the PS5 and Xbox One versions.
