In Urheilu’s expert Kalle Lassila’s opinion, the problems seen in the World Cup with the combined conditions should be highlighted.

The poor condition of the slopes has been one of the topics of conversation on the first days of the World Ski Championships. The salting of the tracks has not worked in warm weather, which has caused a lot of crashes.
For example Arsi Ruuskanen ran into a wooden billboard on Friday and hurt his leg. On Saturday, Finnish maintenance was worried about the dirty tracks.
On Sunday, there was a new chapter in the cross-country skiing race, when cross-country coaches and guardians walked on the combined track. This was due to the fact that the skiers competed on a different track than the combined athletes.
Eero Hirvonen addressed the issue after the race.
– I don’t really like it when there is an uneven trigger. The track has been walked. I can’t ski comfortably then. Weather like this has never been my favorite job. It’s a bit like Bambi on slippery ice, Hirvonen said.
The matter was also discussed on Urheilu’s Instagram Live at the end of the race day. Expert Kalle Lassilan I think the situation is bad for combined athletes. The problem is present in places other than the World Cup.
– Whenever they compete in the same place with cross-country skiers, the tracks are always full of shit. Even in Ruka, you first ski traditional and then the slopes are driven away. When they have just been driven, they go crazy, Lassila explained.
– Now that’s the farce of all farces, that the group walks the tracks to p***.
Finland was sixth in the first World Cup mixed team competition in combined history. Hirvonen hastened to emphasize that the conditions are ultimately the same for everyone.
According to Lassila, it is a bigger discussion than the performance of an individual athlete.
– Of course, the individual is always such that it’s the same for everyone, that I can’t raise it too much. I think someone could pick up sometime, Lassila said.
Monday is a break day in World Ski Championships. On Tuesday, the women will ski 10 kilometers in freestyle skiing. In the evening, the women’s hill qualifying is on the program.
