Former Twilight and arthouse star Kristen Stewart presided over a jury at the three major film festivals for the first time and showed courage right from the debut. At least some of the surprise Winner of the competition at this year’s 73rd Berlin International Film Festival.
The main prize of the festival, the Golden Bear for Best Film, went to the documentary On the Adamant, which follows everyday life in a clinic for people with mental health problems. The jury around Stewart thus decided on a rather inconspicuous film in the competition, which nonetheless received very good reviews.

The Berlinale also owes a new record to the jury headed by Kristen Stewart. Because with the eight-year-old leading actress Sofía Otero from 20,000 Species of Bees, the youngest person ever was awarded the Silver Bear for the best performance in a leading role. (via THR)
In addition, some German filmmakers and actors were able to look forward to prizes, namely Christian Petzold (Red Sky), Angela Schanelec (Music) and Thea Ehre (Until the end of the night).

Steven Spielberg received the festival’s honorary award this year
The so-called Honorary Bear for Lifetime Achievement was awarded to Steven Spielberg during the festival. A tribute was also paid to the director with a selection of his films and his new film The Fabelmans was also presented.
