Macron welcomes China in peace talks

French President Emmanuel Macron believes that it is good that China participates in peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, The Guardian reports.
– China must help us put pressure on Russia, so they never use chemical weapons or nuclear weapons, says Macron.
The French president announced that he will visit the Chinese capital, Beijing, at the beginning of April, to discuss what China can contribute to ending the war in Ukraine.

The EU is adding to the sanctions list
The EU has hammered through a new sanctions package against Russia. Another 120 or so people or organizations connected to Russia’s war in Ukraine are listed, TT reports.
The list is not open to the public. However, TT states that it concerns, among other things, people who were involved in the kidnapping of Ukrainian children to Russia and people with connections to the Wagner group.
For the first time, people and organizations from Iran are also listed. It concerns, among other things, individuals who are said to have helped supply Russia with drones.
Exports to Russia are also stopped, to a value of 11.4 billion euros. These include, among other things, heavy trucks and other vehicles, as well as technology that can contribute in various ways to Russia’s war industry.
It has also been decided that three more Russian banks will have their assets frozen and two more media outlets will be banned within the EU.
Russia cuts off oil to Poland
Russia has shut off the oil tap to Poland.
This is stated by the chairman of the PKN Orlen oil refinery in Poland.
“Russia has stopped oil supplies to Poland, which we are fully prepared for. Only 10 percent of the raw material came from Russia and we will replace it with oil from elsewhere. This is the effect of diversification that we have implemented in recent years,” writes Daniel Obajtek on Twitter.
Putin doll burned outside the Russian embassy
A doll depicting Russian President Vladimir Putin – dressed in a suit and with a sign reading “War criminal” hung around its neck – was burned outside the Russian embassy in Stockholm on Saturday, reports DN.
According to the newspaper, it is supposed to be Russians living in Sweden who arranged the demonstration.
– I don’t think we are alone in the idea of burning an effigy of Putin. We are many Russians who want to show our opposition to the war, says co-organizer Aleksej Karich.
Fire in apartment building
There is a fire in an apartment in an apartment building in Holmsund in Umeå.
Emergency services and police are on the scene.

The Norwegian Parliament wants to ban Tiktok

Kazakhstan supports China’s Ukraine plan
Kazakhstan’s foreign minister announced on Saturday that the country supports the plan for the war in Ukraine that China recently put forward, TT reports.

Runar Viksten about the police investigation: Don’t need to bother me
Runar Viktsten was appointed by national police chief Anders Thornberg to investigate the police’s handling of the case with Mats Löfving and Linda Staaf.
The investigation has subsequently met with sharp criticism, this also after the news that Mats Löfving was found dead in his home the same evening as the investigation was presented.

Fire in villa on Öland
Emergency services and an ambulance have been alerted to a fire that broke out in a residence in Mörbylånga on Öland.
– It’s a cabin that’s on fire. When we arrived at the scene, there were open flames, so we had to start the extinguishing work from the outside, says Jesper Berglund, emergency operator at the rescue service.
There is no information that people have been injured in connection with the fire. According to the fire service’s forecast, it will take them two hours to extinguish the fire.
A death in a traffic accident
One person has died after being hit north of Timrå.
Relatives have been notified.

Case of deadly virus detected in Spain
Spain has detected its first suspected case of the Marburg virus, reports Reuters.
A 34-year-old man has been admitted for care and isolation at a private hospital in Valencia after he tested positive for the virus.
The virus is very deadly: Up to 88 percent of those infected die from the disease, according to the WHO.
Earlier in February, the WHO announced that cases of the virus had been detected in the Central African country of Equatorial Guinea, where 16 suspected cases have been detected and nine deaths reported.
