Frida Karlsson will soon enter the skiing WC in earnest.
But now the Swede airs his clear criticism and demands an answer.
– You have to decide, says the 23-year-old to Radiosporten.
Sweden got off to a dream start at the World Ski Championships with gold, silver and bronze in the women’s sprint in the World Cup premiere. Jonna Sundling, Emma Ribom and Maja Dahlqvist arranged a true blue-yellow triple and soon it will be time for Frida Karlsson to take over the baton.
Karlsson’s criticism
On Saturday, the Swedish ski jump enters the ski WC in Planica in earnest and is one of the gold favorites in the skiathlon. But before the race, there is something that really puzzles the Swedish national team star.

Because skiathlon is always included when major championships are held, but very rarely otherwise. Karlsson now demands that a decision be made regarding what applies regarding the competition format, which includes both classic skating and freestyle.
– You have to decide. Either you have it as a discipline that you run regularly at the World Cup and championships or you have to scrap it completely, I think, says Frida to Radiosporten.
– I have run three or four skiathlons in my entire life and it has only been at championships. I don’t think I’ve ever done that at the World Cup.

Poromaa too
The 23-year-old would like to see more investment in the discipline and she really likes competing in the skiathlon.
– I think it’s a cool discipline. You are really looking for an ultimate skier who can ski both disciplines and is all-round, she says in the interview.

Frida Karlsson also gets the support of her boyfriend and estranged neighbor William Poromaa in this question. He has only skiathloned twice during his relatively short skiing career.
– Both those times have been at the championship. It has almost become a bit of a thing, says Poromaa to the radio channel.
– It is the ultimate test with both classic and skate and also quite long. So it’s a good competition, I think.
