People of all ages are encouraged to wear pink clothing on Wednesday, as Pink Shirt Day is observed across Canada and in several other countries.
const. Melvin Monteblanca and colleagues from the Brantford Police Service visited Notre Dame School on Tuesday to talk to students about steps that can be taken when they see someone being bullied.
Pink Shirt Day originated in a small Nova Scotia town in 2007 when a pair of high school students Davis Shepherd and Travis Price organized a protest to show support for a Grade 9 student who had been bullied for wearing a pink shirt.
The two students purchased 50 pink shirts and distributed them to all the boys in their school, wearing them to demonstrate that bullying would not be tolerated.
