The 48th ceremony which celebrates the best of French cinema is to follow this Friday, February 24, 2023. Canal+ broadcasts the event, which is held at the Olympia, live and unencrypted. The objective is clear for the Academy: to revitalize and modernize a ceremony which has been struggling, at least in audience, for several years. The last edition only attracted 1.3 million viewers, or only 8.5% market share.
For this, the Academy of Caesar has summoned a myriad of stars to make the show. Tahar Rahim was chosen as president of this ceremony. However, it is not he who will provide the presentation, but a college of masters of ceremonies, who will perform solo or in duos during the evening. Among the celebrities chosen to host the evening are Leïla Bekhti, Jérôme Commandeur, Jamel Debbouze, Emmanuelle Devos, Léa Drucker, Eye Haïdara, Alex Lutz, Raphaël Personnaz and Ahmed Sylla.
Among the highlights of the César 2023, apart from the award ceremonies, let us mention the arrival of the American director David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club, Zodiac, The Social Network) to receive an honorary César for his entire career, presented by Virginie Efira. A tribute will also be paid to Jean-Louis Trintignant, who died on June 17. For now, the innocent by Louis Garrel leads the nominations race with 11 citations, followed by The night of 12 (10 nominations), In body And Pacifiction – Torment on the Islands (9 nominations), all cited in the prestigious Best Film category. Among the nominated films, there are also feature films The Almond Trees And November, who each have 7 nominations.
