Östlund scores zero at the Baftagalan

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The film was nominated in the categories for best original screenplay and casting, awards which instead went to Martin McDonagh for “The banshees of Inisherin” and Nikki Barrett and Denise Chamian for “Elvis”, reports Variety.

The actor Dolly De Leon also had a chance to win, in the category of best supporting actress for her performance in “Triangle of Sadness”. There it was Kerry Condon who received an award for his role in “The banshees of Inisherin”.

Another chance to win with a Swedish connection was in the category that awards the best debut film by a British screenwriter, director or producer. There, the Swedish-born filmmaker Marie Lidén was nominated for her film “Electric malady”, but it was Charlotte Wells who was awarded for the film “Aftersun”.

In total, Netflix’s German film adaptation of “Nothing new on the Western Front” is the film with the most nominations: 14. That makes it one of the two non-English-language films with the most Bafta nominations of all time – Ang Lee’s Crouching tiger, hidden dragons had the same number in 2001.

The Bafta Awards are organized by the British Film Academy.
