Grandson charged with murder in death of 90-year-old woman

Private family funeral Tuesday for homicide victim

Police say they have charged a 34-year-old Norfolk man in the death of 90-year-old Marlene Wilson of Waterford.

Jordaine Anthony Lewis Wilson, the grandson of the senior, was arrested on Friday and held in custody.

He is set to appear in court on Feb. 18, facing charges of first-degree murder.

Wilson, who was described in her obituary as being “full of life” was found dead at her Mechanic Street home just before 8:30 am on Feb. 12. A post-mortem was conducted before her death was announced as a homicide.

A private family funeral is being held on Tuesday in Brantford at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Center on Brant Avenue but, before that a public visitation will be held from noon to 1 pm

The death of the mother of six in a quiet rural community has shocked nearby residents.

Wilson is said to have been survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren but predeceased by her husband.

Norfolk OPP said the senior lived with family in the Mechanic Street home where she was found and that it was “an isolated incident” with no threat to public safety.
