During the security conference in Munich from which Macron returned, the French president called on his allies to increase their support for Ukraine. He also stated that France is prepared for a protracted conflict.
— I want Russia to be defeated in Ukraine and want Ukraine to have the opportunity to defend its position, he says in the interview with, among others, Le Figaro and the broadcasting company France Inter.
— I am convinced that in the end this will not be resolved militarily, he continues.
But he does not – like some – want the war to be fought on Russian soil. Such people, says Macron, want “above all to crush Russia”.
— That has never been France’s attitude, and never will be.
