(Finance) – The French energy giant EDF extension closes 2022 with a record loss of 17.9 billion euros, compared to a profit of 5.1 billion in 2021. The result – explained the energy company – was mainly affected by the problems associated with nuclear production and the effects of the war in Ukraine.
The sales it grew by 70% to 143.5 billion euros, driven by rising energy prices. The gross operating margin (Ebitda) records a loss of 5 billion.
L’financial debt net rises to 64.5 billion euros.
“Despite a strong increase in turnover, Ebitda is heavily penalized by the decline in nuclear production and by the exceptional regulatory measures put in place in France for 2022, in difficult market conditions”, commented CEO Luc Remont.
