Announced to employees via e-mail! YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki resigns

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

One of the first employees of technology giant Google and CEO of the world-famous online video sharing and social media platform YouTube, Susan Wojcicki, announced her resignation in an e-mail she sent to employees. It has been announced that 54-year-old Wojcicki will be replaced by his deputy Neal Mohan.

Wojcicki’s resignation comes after YouTube’s ad revenue plummeted in the second quarter amid intense competition for watchtime from platforms like Netflix and short-form video services like TikTok and Facebook’s reels.

Wojcicki said in the email that he will focus on “family, health and personal projects” and plans to take up a consulting role at Alphabet. Wojcicki, who was previously senior vice president of advertising products at Google, became CEO of YouTube in 2014.

Mohan, a Stanford University graduate who joined Google in 2008, focused on creating Shorts and Music on YouTube. The CEO change caused Google shares to drop less than 1 percent. (UAV)
