Brock Mathieson of Wallaceburg and Cameron Schinkelshoek of Pain Court each had a pair of top-two results at the SWOSSAA swimming championship in Windsor on Feb. 15.
Mathieson won the junior boys’ 100-metre individual medley in 1:24.71 and was second in the 50-metre backstroke in 36.64 seconds.
Schinkelshoek was second in the open boys’ 50 freestyle (24.32) and 200 IM (2:22.32).
Reed Mathieson of Wallaceburg was second in the senior boys’ 100 backstroke (1:12.73) and third in the 100 IM (1:15.85). Bree Eddleston of Wallaceburg was second in the junior girls’ 50 breaststroke (41.75).
Xandre Aitken of Pain Court was third in the junior boys’ 50 freestyle (29.98) and 50 backstroke (36.73).
Leah Hazzard of Wallaceburg was third in the junior girls’ 50 backstroke (39.69), Sophia Humphrey of Pain Court was third in the senior girls’ 100 backstroke (1:25.64) and Payton Rinas of Pain Court was third in the open girls’ 100 backstroke (1:13.81).
Wallaceburg (Brock Mathieson, Ashton Vink, Reed Mathieson and Keegan Ellis) was third in the senior boys’ 200 medley relay.
All winners qualified for the OFSAA championship Feb. 28 and March 1 in Windsor. The rest of the OFSAA field – 32 entries per event – will be determined after times from all regional associations are compared.
