“This means that the government can quickly proceed with putting in place targeted support for particularly electricity-intensive companies,” says Energy and Business Minister Ebba Busch (KD) to TT.
But there is still no information about the general support to companies in southern and central Sweden that will compensate for high electricity prices during the period October 2021 through September 2022. The government has not yet notified the support to the EU Commission, so it is unclear if it will approved and when, if so, the companies can take part in it.
“There is intensive work going on, we are working on it as soon as possible,” says Ebba Busch.
The support that the European Commission has now given the green light for is calculated on the basis of electricity costs that particularly electricity-intensive companies had during the last quarter of last year, according to the government. They have the opportunity to receive support of a maximum of 2 million euros, up to 22 million kroner. According to the government, it may be about foundries and certain chemical industries that play important roles in other industrial production.
