During Tuesday evening, neighbors reacted to noises from a basement in Gävle.
Because they suspected that it might be someone who broke in, a security guard was alerted to the scene.
When the guard arrived, a dog was heard barking from the basement.
When the police also arrived at the scene, a tied and playful dog of the American Bully breed was found tied up in an unlocked basement storage room.
The dog has not been able to be connected to any specific apartment and no owner has therefore been found.
The police are now trying to get in touch with the dog’s owner, alternatively people who know whose dog it is.
The police have handed the dog over to a dog shelter.
– We have found a chip in the dog and hope to find the owner, says a police spokesperson.

The Social Democrats’ foreign policy spokesperson Morgan Johansson criticizes the government’s handling of the NATO process during the foreign policy debate in the Riksdag on Wednesday.
– It is a failure for the Swedish government that they have not been able to hold Sweden and Finland together in the most important security policy process for our country in 200 years.
He also targets the government partner Sweden Democrats:
– Part of the responsibility must also be placed on the Sweden Democrats, whose incitement about Koran burnings brought the NATO process to a standstill.
Foreign Minister Tobias Bilström (M) dismisses the criticism:
– Of course, we continue to work with the goal of becoming members of NATO together with Finland.
– But it has always been clear that these issues are about sovereign states’ decisions over which we cannot control.
