After a strike movement in December and January, the liberal doctors are called upon to stop work and to demonstrate on February 14. Two demands in particular animate them: to demand an increase in tariffs and to oppose a bill examined in the Senate.

As happened in December and January, you may still find the door closed today if you need to see your GP. Many meet to demonstrate in Paris, in order to demand an increase in “downhill” tariffs and to oppose a bill examined in the Senate.

The increase of 1.50 euro: a provocation according to doctors

First claim, and not least, the liberal doctors, supported by the collective Doctors for tomorrow with the support of protest unions (UFML, FMF) are asking for an increase of 25 euros in the consultation fee, from 25 to 50 euros. Even large organizations (MG France, CSMF), whose signature will be essential, do not expect less than 30 euros.

L’Assurance Maladie offers a revaluation of 1.50 euros, an announcement experienced as “a provocation” by doctors. Advocating for an indispensable “revaluation of the home visit”SOS Médecins also joined the mobilization.

Thomas Fatome, director of health insurance, promises to go further next week. Health insurance and liberal doctors have until the end of February to reach an agreement on the price of consultations.

Direct access to paramedics, experienced as two-tier medicine

Another discord on the menu: Parliament, which plans to open “direct access” – without medical prescription therefore – to certain paramedics such as physiotherapists, speech therapists and advanced practice nurses to feed demand. This bill, supported by the executive, must be debated this afternoon in the Senate. It is in particular against this bill that the unions are marching today in the capital.

This time, even the Order of Physicians has announced its participation in the procession, to denounce the “risks of disruption of care” And “loss of chance for patients” what does this project of “two-tier medicine”.

Minister François Braun remains on his positions and defends a supposed reform “promote coordinated exercise between caregivers and thus free up medical time”. According to him, this proposal is the only effective solution quickly without affecting the much decried freedom of installation of doctors”.
