Another great drama with Sebastian Samuelsson in the lead role.
But this time the Swede had to settle for another WC bronze.
– Now I show all the critics even if I worry a little, he says to SVT.
The men’s World Cup distance race on Tuesday was another all-dramatic showdown down to the last and once again was Sebastian Samuelsson in the leading role. The Swede shot full on the last standing shot and then took up the fight for both the bronze and the silver.
New WC bronze
Samuelsson easily got past the French Quentin Fillon Maillet in the fight for the bronze and then increased the speed considerably to catch up with the Norwegians Sturla Holm Campsite in second place. It was also super tight all the way to the finish line when “Sebbe” picked up second after second on the final lap.

In the end, a paltry four tenths separated Lägreid and Samuelsson, but this time Norway won the neighboring duel and took care of the WC silver. Sebastian Samuelsson’s second straight WC bronze must still be seen as a fine success for the Swede.

Sebbe’s pass
Immediately after the finish, he took the opportunity to send out a neat pass to all the critics who saw and mocked him during the World Cup so far.
– It feels very good. I’ve been getting a lot of emails saying I should take shooting courses and stuff. Now I show all the critics, even if I worry a little about the four tenths, says Sebbe to SVT.
– I drove almost everything I had at the beginning, didn’t want Quentin Fillon Maillet behind me, felt I had the energy today but it was very loose at the end of the lap. I know that if I shoot full, I have a good chance of a medal and am proud that I can do it in fourth. I looked up and saw that it was a third, no, but I’m very happy.

As usual, the World Cup gold was taken by the superior Norwegian Johannes Thingnes Bö took care again and secured his fourth straight gold in Oberhof.
– It was very exciting and we thought Sebastian looked tired while Läreid looked rap. It was sour with the four tenths from the silver, says the SVT expert Helena Ekholm after the race.
– It was great fun that Sebastian won a medal, says the teammate Martin Ponsiluoma who himself had four booms.
